Adults and Teen Challenge of Texas is expanding its Azle campus to make room for new residential housing with the help of a $500,000 grant.

AZLE, Texas - July 5, 2018 - PRLog -- The Adult and Teen Challenge of Texas nonprofit organization is expanding the residential facilities of one of its locations with the help of a $500,000 grant. The grant was made available through the Frost Bank and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas. The remaining cost of the project was covered by private donors.

Construction of the new 48-bed residential housing unit began in March and is expected to be completed this fall.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, 1,375 opioid-related overdose deaths occurred in Texas in 2016. The University of Austin released a report last year that stated 715 of Texas overdose deaths resulted from methamphetamines and that 539 were caused by heroin.

As a Christian-based organization, Adult and Teen Challenge of Texas offers a holistic approach to addiction treatment. Its Azle men campus offers group and individual counseling as well as a work-study program and educational opportunities for its patients.

Adult and Teen Challenge of Texas is also celebrating the 50th anniversary of its San Antonio campus this year.
