SARASOTA, Fla. - June 18, 2018 - PRLog -- Dr. Fabian A. Ramos, Founder of The Ramos Center for Interventional and Functional Pain Medicine, received the 2018 Community Health Advocacy Award from Sarasota Medical Alliance Foundation and Society. The award was presented to Dr. Ramos by Erin Lilly, President of the Sarasota Medical Alliance Foundation & Society, on Friday, June 8, 2018, at The Ramos Center for Interventional and Functional Pain Medicine's Bradenton location – 100 3rd Ave. W., Suite 110, Bradenton.

"I am honored to receive this award on behalf of our doctors and staff who dedicate time to love our patients and help them in the best possible and responsible way," said Dr. Ramos. "It is my distinct privilege to work alongside this organization and with people throughout the community who devote time to making change."

Each year, the Sarasota Medical Alliance Foundation and Society selects one to three individuals or organizations that have shown outstanding efforts in forwarding health-related initiatives or volunteer organizations which bring better health and wellness to Sarasota County. Dr. Ramos was chosen for his participation in the Drug Free Sarasota Physician Advocate Award Program, which addresses how Sarasota's doctors are now helping Drug Free Sarasota spread the latest information on the most pressing issues of prescription drug abuse and misuse issues occurring in our community. This program received the Southern Medical Association Alliance's Best Health Project award for 2017 (regional), was one of three finalists for the national award from the American Medical Association Alliances, and was selected as one of five "hometown heroes" to present health projects nationally.

"We are so pleased and proud to have Dr. Ramos connected with this award-winning health project," said Lilly. "His work on behalf of patients throughout our region and the nation exemplifies our mission to take a grassroots approach to combatting the opioid epidemic in our community and to destigmatize mental health issues."

"Through our focus and efforts regarding the opioid crisis, we continue to maintain our complex and comprehensive programs of screening, monitoring, behavioral and physical therapies, and basic and high level interventional treatments to control pain at its source," said Ramos.
