Laurie Schoendorfer Education Endowment is CreatedIRVINE, Calif. - April 24, 2018 - PRLog -- The family and friends of Laurie Schoendorfer are excited to announce the creation of a non-profit endowment in her honor that provides an educational opportunity for students with mobility-related disabilities in developing nations. The goal of this endowment is to empower individuals who lack financial means to reach their educational potential through financial support.
Laurie Schoendorfer, board member and co-founder of the Irvine, CA, Free Wheel Chair Mission, was a generous, loving, and caring individual who worked tirelessly throughout her life to help underserved people in the developing world. Laurie devoted much of her life to giving the gift of mobility to over a million individuals in need of a wheelchair. On May 27, 2017, she passed away; leaving in her memory the desire to create an organization that continues her compassionate spirit through humanitarian service. To honor this remarkable woman, family and friends of Laurie have set up an endowment. The Laurie Schoendorfer Endowment for Education will preserve her legacy by supporting the wheelchair recipients with scholarships to attend universities in their pursuit of higher education. LSEE will pay the tuition, room and board to scholars meeting these qualifications: · Live in a developing country · Have received a wheelchair from the Free Wheelchair Mission · Referred to the Endowment by one of the Free Wheelchair Mission's distribution partners · Have been accepted into an accredited university · Are unable to pay for the tuition and costs to receive an undergraduate degree "Had it not been for scholarships, neither Laurie or I would have had the benefit of formal education, and there would never have been a Free Wheelchair Mission. This endowment will help eliminate the discrimination of people with mobility disabilities," Laurie Schoendorfer Endowment for Education is pleased to announce its official status as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Donations to the endowment are tax deductible. LSEE is also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers, or gifts.
