New crash test accelerometers for lateral impact testing

IRVINE, Calif. - March 28, 2018 - PRLog -- Meggitt Sensing Systems, a division of Meggitt PLC, has released the Model 758 accelerometer designed for lateral impact testing in automotive crash test applications. The rectangular shape and adhesive mounting allows for ease of orientation in the knees and ankle of Anthropomorphic Test Dummies (ATDs).

This robust 2,000 g sensor has multi-mode gas damping for broad usable bandwidth and exceptional survivability. The 758 leads the industry with 0.2 mV/g sensitivity for the best signal to noise ratio for reliable data acquisition. With a wide operating temperature range of -40 to 100 °C, this sensor is suitable for use indoors and out.

• flat frequency response of +/-5% to 4,000 Hz
• multi-mode gas damping
• rugged aluminum housing survives up to 10,000g
• 2, 5 and 10 V calibration standard with every unit
• user-friendly 28 AWG cable

Materials of construction are RoHS compliant and each unit is shipped with its own calibration certificate. Meggitt controls the complete manufacturing process; from the MEMS sensor made in our in-house fabrication facility to the final test with our certified calibration systems.
