Scott's Marketplace Moves Business Operations to Colorado

E-Commerce Platform Strategically Moves to Small Business Hub

TIMNATH, Colo. - Jan. 31, 2018 - PRLog -- Scott's Marketplace, the e-commerce platform that provides local shop owners in the United States an online storefront to operate their business while giving consumers an easy way to shop local online, announced today the move of business operations from Arizona to Northern Colorado.

"The move to Colorado just made sense for the business," said Scott K. Curry, founder and CEO of Scott's Marketplace. "This operational shift also opens up the opportunity to leverage our team member presence in the area to advocate for local entrepreneurs with initiatives like SHIFT10."

The transition of business operations to Colorado, a state where according to a recent report by the U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy, small businesses account for 99.5% of all businesses within the state, gives Scott's Marketplace the opportunity to coordinate more physical events for local businesses through initiatives including SHIFT10, which was founded by the e-commerce platform in 2016 to educate consumers on the importance of supporting local businesses each day rather than at one time in the year. SHIFT10 (https://www.shift10day.com) encourages consumers to make a small change to their spending habits to shift 10% of their everyday spending to support small businesses in their community over big box retailers. SHIFT10 is celebrated annually on SHIFT10 Day, October 10.

With team members throughout Denver, Boulder, and Northern Colorado, the fully-distributed company has already been able to coordinate and participate in events for local businesses in the state. In 2017, SHIFT10 partnered with Downtown Boulder Partnership to celebrate local businesses and encourage patronage at the brick and mortar storefronts in the Pearl Street Mall area of Boulder, CO. The Colorado-based Scott's Marketplace team members took to Boulder's Pearl Street on SHIFT10 Day to hand out flyers, stickers and other swag for SHIFT10 in an effort to educate community members on SHIFT10 and the celebration occurring with local businesses in the area that day.

"The benefit of having a fully-remote company is that the move to Colorado doesn't disrupt the day-to-day business operations, but it does allow our team to take more opportunities to get involved in a growing hub for small business," said Cindy Boynton, COO of Scott's Marketplace. "We are looking for more ways to get involved with communities across the U.S. throughout 2018," Boynton added.

Scott's Marketplace first began the transition of business operations to Northern Colorado in Fall 2017. The company plans to expand support to the local business community in Colorado and in other key areas throughout the country in 2018.
