WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Jan. 23, 2018 - PRLog -- With a 24 percent return, Maycrest Capital's Balanced Fund Strategy (the "Strategy") did not disappoint in 2017. The year 2017 completes the 11th year the firm has used its Strategy to invest in the equity market. Since 2007, the Strategy has achieved an 11 percent return after fees, compounded annually. The return compares favorably to the returns achieved by the hedge fund industry, which has received much negative press coverage for their lackluster performance, most recently in connection with Warren Buffett's infamous "Buffett Bet."

Maycrest Capital's Strategy also beat the S&P 500 Index over the 11-year time frame. Investing in the S&P 500 Index through an exchange traded fund or mutual fund would have returned about eight percent annually over the same 11-year time frame, assuming an investor would have reinvested the dividends. "The Strategy's design to actively manage risk has worked well in different market environments" said Richard Davis, Chief Executive Officer of the firm. "During the financial crisis, we avoided some of the drawdowns of the bear market, and our returns have been propelled by a strong stock market since."

Maycrest Capital will make its Strategy available through the managed account platform of Interactive Brokers starting in 2018.

"Managed accounts offer some definite benefits to investors" Davis said. "Under a managed account structure, the asset manager has the authority to make investment decisions in the customer's accounts, but the manager does not have the authority to withdraw funds from these accounts without approval from the customer. Transparency is another key advantage of managed accounts. Under a managed account structure, an investor can see the positions and transactions in the account; when investing in a hedge fund an investor has to wait to get the account statements from the hedge fund."
