By: Brooklyn Outdoor Company owner and president, Candice Simons and her team of four employees will purchase, prepare and present care packages to local homeless. 150 holiday bags packed with a toothbrush, toothpaste, hand warmers, thermal socks, chapstick and a blanket will be personally delivered by the Brooklyn Outdoor team on Wednesday, December 13. In partnership with Alternatives for Girls, Brooklyn Outdoor has sponsored six wishlists for children in the program and will provide gifts at the nonprofit's annual holiday party on Thursday, December 14. In addition to monetary donations, the company will utilize Simons' lifestyle blog, J'adore Detroit (http://www.jadore- Simons comments, "As a small business, it is important we maximize multiple resources to give back to the community and positively impact as many people as possible. We are donating time, supplies and gifts in addition to using our public platform, J'adore Detroit, to share volunteer opportunities with our readers." Brooklyn Outdoor employees will continue to give back to the community throughout the year. The team has pledged to donate 15 hours a month to Art Road; a nonprofit focused on integrating art into Detroit Public Schools.
