Experience Delicious Mexican Specialities at Ixcateco Grill during Chicago's Restaurant Week

By: Ixcateco Grill

CHICAGO - Dec. 5, 2017 - PRLog -- Restaurant Week (January 26-February 8, 2018) allows local and visiting foodies a chance to discover some of the best eats—and great deals—in the city deemed the best restaurant city in America by Conde Nast Traveler.

Ixcateco Grill (3402 W. Montrose, Chicago; 773-539-5887) is one of these excellent restaurants, offering authentic Mexican cuisine from the central and southwestern regions, served in a casual BYOB neighborhood setting.  This restaurant is owned by talented chef Anselmo Ramirez who earned his culinary stripes at Rick Bayless' Frontera Grill and Topolobampo for thirteen years before opening his own restaurant.

Ixcateco Grill is considered one of Chicago's "must-visit Mexican restaurants." Lovers of mole and other extraordinary Mexican specialties will adore this restaurant—Ramirez has been called the "Rembrandt of Mole" by Eater.com and it's a well-deserved nickname. He has created a special menu just for this culinary celebration. Vegetarian and vegan options will be available upon request.

Start off with one of the two appetizer choices. Warm up with the Picaditas de Barbacoa. Lamb is steam cooked in a dry pepper sauce until tender and succulent, and served with pickled cactus and quest ranchero. For a lighter but equally satisfying starter, the Ensalada—mixed greens, raisins, pinzanes, cherry tomatoes and goat cheese tossed in citrus dressing —delivers flavor but leaves room for the next two courses.

For entrees choose between the Camarones a la Crema, shrimp in a three-pepper cream sauce served with white rice and sautéed vegetables, and the Costilla en Mole Verde, short rib in a green mole sauce served with mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables.

End the special meal on a sweet note with Ixcateco's succulent Tres Leches Cake.

The three-course Prix Fix dinner menu is $33 per person. View the menu and reserve a table online.
