Follow on Google News | A small Chinese Startup's war against the Giant – on PlagiarizingThis is the tech version of David and Goliath's story that happens in China.
By: Hangzhou C2H4 Internet Technology Co., Ltd. In his blog, Mr. Wu showed proof of communication with the contact persons from Ali Health. It is supposed to be a happy cooperation between the Giant and the innovative startup, but now it will probably end up in court. The story can be simply divided into 3 parts: 1. Representatives from Ali Health approached the developer for cooperation 2. The above mentioned party requested the developer to provide technology details 3. After gaining the technology solution, Ali Health's staff changed their attitude and delayed the cooperation proposal 4. The developer found out his technology is being implemented in Ali's Taobao platform as their own solution ------------------------------- It all started with two senior directors from Ali Health contacted Wu for cooperation in May this year (2017), in order to implement his App in Ali Health - one of Ali Groups's platforms which focus on digital health solutions. Upon promising cooperation and the urgency of the project, Mr. Wu undoubtedly gave his design mockup, software module and the core technology details to Ali Health. The function of his app is to detect the user's skin type by taking a photo. After the staff from Ali Health kept delaying their final decision by telling Mr. Wu that they were busy and he should just wait patiently - Then Mr. Wu found out a similar App with the same functionality has being published on Taobao, without his credit. Wu posted this story to warn his fellow entrepreneurs to watch out for cooperation with big companies, and do not trust them easily. The sad thing is, Mr. Wu hasn't registered any IP. He can sue the accused party for infringement of Business secrecy, but the legal procedure is not something a startup wants or can handle, especially when the opposition is such a big company. He decides to tell his story to the world first, and plan for legal action to protect his right. Until today, Mr. Wu hasn't received any compensation from any party. End
