Run4Dreams.com Launches Virtual 5 K Running Event to Raise Money for critically ill children

VICTORIA, British Columbia - Nov. 27, 2017 - PRLog -- Victoria, British Columbia, November 27, 2017 – University of Victoria Bachelor of Commerce Graduate, professional fitness writer, military reservist, and passionate running community enthusiast, Yana Hempler is proud to announce the launch of her new website www.run4dreams.com. The website is an extension of Yana's desire to use her passion for running to help raise funds for the Help Fill a Dream Foundation, and make the world a better place.  The Help Fill a Dream Foundation provides hope, help, and happiness for Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands' children under the age of 19 with life-threatening conditions by fulfilling their dreams, improving their quality of life, and assisting their families with care and financial support.

"We are always honoured to work with those in the community who are passionate about giving back to those who need help" says Craig Smith, Executive Director, Help Fill a Dream. "Yana is committed to leveraging her passion for running and partnering with community businesses, to promote health and wellness while raising money to fulfill the dreams of injured and ill children.

"My inspiration to enlist runners to raise money for Help Fill a Dream comes from my work with Jerry Hughes. Jerry is a former Help Fill a Dream kid who excelled at running despite being diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Gardner's Syndrome.  I had the privilege of working with Jerry as I coached him and helped him take his running to the next level.  He is now an international competitor and serves as an inspiration to those who want to compete in Ultra Marathons (100 Km +)" says Yana Hempler, Director, Run4dreams.com. "My goal now is to use running to not only promote health, but to provide hope to those who have life-threatening conditions. We are all Vancouver Islanders, and we always support one another".

The goal of this event is to make a difference in the lives of children under the age of 19 with life-threatening conditions by fulfilling their Dreams and assisting their families with care and financial support. Help Fill a Dream Foundation has made a tremendous difference in the lives of many children who are suffering from critical illnesses. One of those people is Jerry Hughes, who grew up to serve as a huge inspiration to many people. Jerry was born with a rare genetic disorder called Gardner's Syndrome. He overcame it and became one of the top ultra marathoners in Canada. Help Fill a Dream Foundation has made a huge positive impact on his life when he was younger. He has two young kids of his own now and there is a chance that they might have inherited the disorder too (too young to find out) and the thought of them having it breaks my heart. In addition to raising money for a great charity, Run4Dreams aims to unite the entire running community. When participants chose to #run4dreams, they are doing so because they are looking to make a positive impact on the community while having fun doing an activity they love-running!
