Follow on Google News | Fifth annual SW Florida 5K Run/Walk raises $20,700 for Lung Cancer Research CouncilBy: Lung Cancer Research Council "Each year, our event brings together a remarkable group of survivors, friends and family whose lives have been impacted by lung cancer, as we work toward a common goal to raise awareness of the importance of screening and early detection," said Thomas E. Cappiello, president of the Lung Cancer Research Council. "As a 10-year lung cancer survivor, I am honored to join our community in continuing the fight against lung cancer, as we commemorate the loved ones we have lost and celebrate those who have triumphed against this disease." In the past five years, the SW Florida 5K Run/Walk and Mile of Memories Memorial Walk has raised over $270,000 to benefit programs that generate awareness and understanding about lung cancer and promote screening and early detection in an effort to save lives right here in Southwest Florida.
