More Discrimination in the Not-So Friendly Skies

Southwest Airlines Forced Same Sex Couple and their Children to Board Last After Refusing To Allow Them to Board during Family Boarding

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Sept. 1, 2017 - PRLog -- Southwest Airlines not only refused Family Boarding to Ft. Lauderdale couple Jacob Lapp and David Forstadt who were flying home with their twin 6 year old daughters, but Southwest prohibited the family from boarding the plane until last, after all of the other passengers boarded. The airline similarly refused Family Boarding to another gay couple and their three young children in May of this year. The surfacing of two instances of overt discrimination against same-sex couples exposes an institutionalized policy of intolerance and bigotry by Southwest.

To the family's shock and distress, the Southwest Airlines staff publicly shamed Jacob and David by preventing them from boarding with Group B. The family held Group A and Group B boarding passes. When the family attempted to board the flight a second time (after being denied Family Boarding), when Group B boarding was announced, the Southwest attendant again refused to allow the family to board the plane.

The incident caused this family unnecessary humiliation and indignity in contravention of Southwest's own written policies. The family is represented by Sarah Anne Mourer with The Berman Law Group.
