Follow on Google News | UK Government Announce Energy Cost ReviewBy: BAS Energy University professor and energy expert and commentator, will be conducting the review with an aim to "sort the facts from the myths about the cost of energy" and report back with his findings at the end of October. The UK aims to have the lowest prices for energy in Europe for both households and businesses and the review is set to investigate how the energy industry and government can feasibly keep energy costs low and meet domestic and international climate objectives. With the UK's largest industrial users facing some of the highest energy prices in Europe, business energy costs – and electricity in particular – seem to be under the spotlight. The review aims to consider generation, transmission, distribution, and supply and provide insights on potential cost savings based on this holistic view of the supply chain. The terms of reference also state that, "The review will consider the key factors affecting energy bills, including but not limited to energy and carbon pricing, energy efficiency, distributed generation, regulation of the networks, and innovation and R&D. The review will not propose detailed tax changes." The findings will be reported at the end of October and will look at secure, flexible solutions to meet challenges and objectives for decades to come.
