| ![]() CEA-HOW Brings Message of Relief and Hope to Compulsive OvereatersBy: CEA-HOW The primary purpose of CEA-HOW is to carry its message to the compulsive eater who still suffers. Individual members and autonomous groups share their experiences and a program of recovery with those who seek it. There are no dues or fees for membership in CEA-HOW, just a viable, successful solution for those who suffer from the addiction of compulsive eating. CEA-HOW is not a diet plan. It is based on Alcoholics Anonymous' 12 step program created by Bill W. and Dr. Bob in 1935. The program formally incorporated as CEA-HOW in 1996 and opened its World Service Office in Long Beach, CA in 1999. Today, CEA-HOW's World Service Office is located in Los Angeles, CA. The goal of CEA-HOW is to help its members get to a normal weight. Members of follow a food plan that includes protein, fruit, vegetables and whole grains. Individuals have lost all their weight without exercise and have maintained varying levels of weight loss by following the program. Through the program's structure and support members have achieved decades of abstinence and lost hundreds of pounds. Members of CEA-HOW describe their experiences in the program as "miraculous" "I like myself today and I want to live," said Ruth R., a member of CEA-HOW in Las Vegas. "I am free from the obsession for food and I am healthier than I have ever been. I don't have to take medication anymore and I don't feel like I am alone because I have met so many wonderful people in the program." "These are the happiest times of my life," said Debbie M., another Las Vegas member. "I weighed 198 pounds when I was 13 and I wanted to die. It feels amazing to wake up without a food binge hangover today. My kids brag about me and I enjoy spending time with them."
