Two new groups focus on recovery from food addiction in Palm Beach County

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Jan. 19, 2017 - PRLog -- Two new meetings of the  Food Addicts Anonymous Twelve‐Stepfellowship group are now underway  in Delray Beach.

A Tuesday group meets at  7 p.m.  in the PrayerRoom of  Unity of Delray Beach Church, 101 NW22ndSt. at Swinton Ave, Delray Beach.  This is 22 blocks north of Atlantic Ave.  Participants should park in the church's west parking lot, and the Prayer Room is the room on the right inside the west entrance, across from the Church Office.  Contact: Brenda 561-742-2121

A Wednesday night meeting is held at 7 p.m. at The Crossroads Club, 1700 Lake Ida Rd, east of Congress Ave., before the railroad tracks, in Room E.  Contact: Sue 516-680-0724.

Who is FoodAddicts Anonymous suitable for?

·       If you are a person whohas struggled for years to eat healthy foods and maintaina healthy weight,

Food Addicts Anonymous may be the place for you.

·       If you are someone that binges by eating large quantitiesof sweetsorstarches, you may find that FAA

offers a solution.

·       If you are person who purges their body by extreme measures such as vomiting, laxatives or excessive exercise,

         you are not alone and may findcomfort and support in our fellowship.

·       If you have found yourself limitingyourintakeof foods and have people in your life telling you that you need to eatmore

         you may find value and hope in this program.

FoodAddictsAnonymousisanorganizationthatconsidersfoodaddictiontobeabiochemicaldisorderthat occursata cellularlevelandthereforecannot be curedbywillpower orbytherapyalone.Theyfeelthatfood addictionis  not  a  moralorcharacterissue.ThisTwelve‐Stepprogrambelievesthatfood  addictioncanbe managed by abstaining from (eliminating) addictive foods, following a program of sound nutrition (a food plan), and  working  the  twelve  steps  of  the  program.  After  we  have  gone  through  a  processof  withdrawal  from addictive foods many of us have experienced miraculous lifestyle changes.

FAA is self‐supporting throughourown contributions. Thereareno dues or fees required for membership, but onlyadesiretostopeatingaddictivefoods.Theyarenotaffiliated withanydietorweightlossprograms, treatmentfacilitiesorreligiousorganizations.Theyneither endorsenoropposeany causes.Theprimarypurpose of FAA is to stay abstinent and help other food addicts to achieve abstinence.

Many other Twelve‐Step  groups  meet  at  the Crossroads Club or  at  Unity  of  Delray  Beach  throughout  the  week,  such  as Alcoholics Anonymous,Cocaine Anonymous, Co‐Dependents Anonymous, Al‐Anon for those with alcoholic loved ones, Narcotics Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous, Debtors Anonymous, Adult Children of Alcoholics, and Clutterers Anonymous.
