Literary Catalyst C.N. Smith Kicks Off New Book Tour with A Big Bang

MODESTO, Calif. - Dec. 5, 2016 - PRLog -- Author Christina Smith draws on tragedy and triumph in her own life for her new children's book Joseph's Journey: When Dad Left and Never Came Back on December book tour.

Join Joseph's Journey author Christina Nicole Smith on her December virtual book tour. A Literary catalyst inspiring a love for reading in children as a means to promote their self-growth and self-awareness, she is guest blogging and writing commentary December 5^th – 16^th.  With her first children's book, Smith "gently" opens the door for mothers to have that difficult discussion with their child(ren) about their absentee fathers.

Joseph's Journey is told in two ways in the book: one, is through color illustrations.

"Children's books need pictures. Young children need something to look at. They will look at the picture and start telling the story of the people in the picture," Ms. Smith said. "They can read what is on the page and then they will imagine much more based on the pictures."

The second way is through the first-person narrative. Joseph tells the story from his own perspective. In part of the story, he says, "I didn't know why he didn't come to our house anymore. All I knew was that I felt sad and sometimes angry because I didn't see him anymore."

Ms. Smith expressed it is important that the story comes from Joseph directly. She said children reading the book will enjoy "listening" to the young man tell his story.  "It has to engage the reader. They should know that Joseph is a real person. They need to feel what he is feeling," she said.

The book describes how Joseph learns to cope because his mother teachers him the difference between his father's choices and his own.

"This is a book about Joseph sharing with other children how he learned to accept his own thoughts and choices. This helped him understand his absentee father. It also helped him have compassion toward his missing father," Ms. Smith said.

About Author - Christina N. Smith is an entrepreneur, consultant, mother, and author. Joseph's Journey is her first children's picture book. Born and raised in the Bay Area, she grew up in a house with 3 children, WITHOUT the white picket fence and no dog! However, there was lots of love and laughs to go around. When she was about 10 years old, she thought she was going to be the "next coming" of Whoopi Goldberg! Well, "life happened" and "that" did NOT happen, but in 2014 she was able to cross ONE ITEM off her bucket list and perform stand-up comedy in front of a live audience.
