Follow on Google News | Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists Names Dalia Colón, WEDU PBS, Winner of Griot Drum AwardBy: WEDU PBS Dalia Colón, host of WEDU Arts Plus, a weekly arts and culture series produced by WEDU PBS, was honored with a Griot Drum Award during the ceremony for her WEDU Arts Plus segment featuring 91 year old, Tampa Bay resident and concert pianist Lillette Jenkins-Wisner. Also known as the Queens of Keys, Jenkins-Wisner paved the way for today's piano artists like Alicia Keys, John Legend, and others. Her career began at the young age of six and includes having shared the stage with legends like Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, Lena Horne, and more recently with Billy Joel. WEDU Arts Plus airs on WEDU PBS Thursday nights at 8 p.m. and repeats several times during the on WEDU's multiple channels.
