NAACP Beverly Hills/Hollywood branch partner with LAUSD for Creative Arts event

Celebrity panelists discuss their entertainment careers with 450 students at Dorsey High School

LOS ANGELES - Nov. 16, 2016 - PRLog -- The Beverly Hills/Hollywood NAACP in partnership with Los Angeles Unified School District Arts Education Branch (LAUSD) will introduce the first series of Career Development Programs on Friday, November 18, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., on the campus of Dorsey High School, "The NAACP Creative Arts Festival". Four hundred and fifty students (450) from various LAUSD high schools will participate in a one-day developmental and informational workshop centered around the following disciplines: acting, voice, dance, visual arts, production/filmmaking and stage/theatre makeup application.

The morning will begin with invited celebrities with high visibility from each of the above disciplines who have created notable footprints to an open leadership discussion titled "A Conversation With". This event will be moderated by Actress Wendy Raquel Robinson with participating celebrity panelists to include: Pooch Hall (The GAME, Ray Donovan), Kenny Lattimore, Marsai Martin and Miles Brown (Black-ish), Renee Lawless (The Haves and Have Nots), Logan Browning (Hit the Floor), Cornelius Smith Jr (SCANDAL), Jazz Guitarist Paul Jackson Jr, Kevin "KB" Brewer (Jabbawockeez), Veteran dancer Lula Washington, Broadway choreographer Jeffrey Polk, Visual Artists Charles Bibbs, Bernard Stanley Hoyes and Nick McGee plus MAC representative Ashley Rudder and celebrity make-up artist Simon Rihanna.

After lunch break, veteran Actor and Acting Coach Richard Lawson will teach a workshop titled, "Mastering your career and Making your dreams come true" to LAUSD students in the auditorium. This workshop is designed to help individuals identify their goals, be clear about their purpose, determine the right path, and determine what skills are necessary to make that dream into a reality. It also focuses on the 3 ingredients to success and how to make them work for you in the most empowering way: Politics, Personality and Craft.

To close out the day of learning and engagement, the students will be treated to a Student Extravaganza featuring performances by Lula Washington Dance Theatre, Crenshaw High School choir led by Iris Stevenson, CBG Art Entertainment Ministry Education, Washington High School Jazz ensemble and DJ O.N.E. providing the event's soundtrack.

Red Carpet begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by breakfast buffet prepared by Derek of Crystal Catering until 9:45 a.m. with "A Conversation With" starting promptly at 10:00 a.m. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti makes a special appearance and welcomes the students at 11:00 a.m. and the student extravaganza begins at 4:00 p.m.
