Canadian Artists to Perform at the 2016 Jamaica Music Conference

TORONTO - Nov. 4, 2016 - PRLog -- Canadian artists of the highest caliber set to perform at the 4^th annual Jamaica Music Conference at the Edna Manley School of Music and Performing Arts November 10^th to 13^th, 2016 in Jamaica.

The artistic lineup representing Canada are some of the best upcoming talents, and have been hand selected by Masani Montague, BA (Hons), MES, producer of RastaFest  an annual Reggae festival celebrating Rastafari culture in Canada.  Representing Rastafest showcase are LinQz, Comfort, Korexion, Mel Dube, isax, Chelsea Stewart, King Shadrock, Jah Kettle and Latoya.  Artists from the Canadian delegation will perform on Friday November 11^th as a part of the The Role of Sound Systems in Artist Discovery and Development panel, and on Saturday November 12^th, 2016 as part of the JMC Global Soul Music Showcase.  The showcase will take place at JAMNESIA, 8 Miles Bull Bay, Kingston, Jamaica.

Eager to take their artistry to the next level, Masani says "the artists selected to perform at the Jamaica Music Conference are singers, DJs, players of instruments and singjays.  These artists represent the best in upcoming talent and are a good representation of who is ready to move on to the next level with their career."  In addition to their solo performances, some of the Canadian artists will perform in a scene from Masani's Reggae play, Danger to the Public, inspired by characters from her novel, Dread Culture.

The conference, which is a platform for music business education and networking, is designed to be a pipeline for rising and established artisans who wish to expand their artistic reach by networking with professionals such as Music Distributors, Journalists, Music Publishers and Career Managers.

Some of the panel discussions presented at #JMC2016 include Entertainment as an Export, Creating New Business Models, Music and Social Change, and Music Marketing and Monetization.  Invited guest speakers include Chin Bourne of Irish and Chin Promotions, Natasha Von Castle, Editor-in-Chief from L3 Magazine, Recording Super Star Busy Signal, Tessanne Chin, winner of NBC's The Voice, and esteemed entertainment lawyer Lloyd Stanbury and several others.

Parts of the conference will take place in various parts of Jamaica including the Alpha School for Boys, Jamaica College, JAMPRO Headquarters, Nanook, as well as the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts.
