Seminar: Reading With the Left Side of the Brain

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Sept. 6, 2016 - PRLog -- Deborah Gorman, Reading Instruction Specialist, will present a seminar on "Reading With the Left Side of the Brain."

The event will take place at 4:00 pm on Sunday, Sept. 11 at Christ United Methodist Church, 105 Market St., Rm 4, Chapel Hill, NC 27516

The brain is like a computer; it processes reading (text), and pictures (graphics) in different areas. Most reading programs work with the right side of the brain, which causes confusion and lack of comprehension. These methods work well for about 70-75% of the population.

In North Carolina, 24% of students failed to meet the minimum established proficiency level for reading at the third grade level, according to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

Students with poor reading skills fail to develop to their full potential.

A method that works for the left brain is the most effective for problem readers regardless of age or disability.

The seminar is free, open to parents or anyone interested in reading improvement and literacy.
