Lower Lake, CA (Aug. 29, 2016) — Aloha Bay, a leader in providing environmentally and socially responsible candles and natural living products for the healthy lifestyles market, introduces two new products at Natural Products Expo East: soy-free, coconut-wax candles made with certified organic essential oils and, addressing the need for BPA-free herb and spice packaging, a BPA-free ceramic salt mill.

Made with responsibly sourced, environmentally sustainable coconut, Aloha Bay's coconut wax-line allows for a deeper pool of wax when lit, creating a 'hot' room glow and releasing more aromas into the air. "It's the first ready-to-market coconut candle of its kind," said CEO and co-founder Bart Burger. "Our coconut candles are soy free, and as we know, soy is often genetically modified. Buying products that contain soy is another dollar for 'Big Ag.' We're delighted to offer consumers another choice."

Aloha Bay's ceramic salt mill is a welcome addition to its line of Himalayan salt products. Made from 100% BPA-free clear acrylic with a ceramic salt mill. The crystal-reminiscent salt mill makes an attractive addition to any dining-room table. "A lot of people don't realize that spices are often packaged in BPA-contaminated containers," Burger says. "When we realized this was a concern, and the negative health implications of BPA exposure, we immediately required that all of our packaging be BPA-free. We can now give customers this assurance supported by a third-party testing facility."

Aloha Bay, Ahead of the Environmentally Conscious Curve

When the company opened its doors in 1993 in Lower Lake, CA, it relied on skilled employees, rather than fully automated factory systems, to create its hand-crafted products. In 2012, Aloha Bay's sister factory in Indonesia received the social impact award from the European Union's Centre for the Promotion of Imports for paying a living wage and supporting traditional culture.

In 2013, Aloha Bay became the first candle company to be Rainforest Alliance Certified for their palm wax candles - a designation from an international non-profit conservation organization that certifies farms and plantations that meet rigorous standards for the protection of natural resources and the rights and welfare of workers and local communities.

Aloha Bay offers a full line of all-natural, hand crafted candles and Himalayan salt products for kitchen, bath and home. Candle offerings include: all-natural Coconut-wax Candles, Beeswax Candles and Eco Palm wax Candles, scented with certified organic essential oils and unscented. Aloha Bay uses non-toxic colorings, certified by REACH, (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals).

Products are available online at www.alohabay.com and are distributed through UNFI/Select Nutrition, Lotus Light and Threshold Enterprises. Products are available at leading retail locations throughout the west, including Whole Foods Market, Oliver's Markets, Good Earth Natural Foods and Lassens.
