SalusCare Increases Children's Crisis Unit Capacity

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Aug. 22, 2016 - PRLog -- SalusCare announced today that it will increase its Children's Crisis Unit capacity by four beds beginning August 29,2016, allowing the not-for-profit community mental health and substance abuse treatment facility to serve 16 children at the Colonial Campus.

SalusCare's Children's Crisis Unit and Juvenile Addiction Receiving Facility (JARF), located at 10140 Deer Run Farms Road in Ft. Myers, has seen an increase in admissions to the unit in seven of the last 12 months, prompting the agency to expand its capacity.

"We are in need of additional beds during peak census and high turnover days to accommodate the number of youth being admitted to the crisis unit," said Tina Sumo, Senior Assistant Vice President of Acute Care Services.  "Increasing our capacity will also help accommodate surrounding counties who have asked for assistance with their growing population of youth who are being admitted under the Baker Act."

Florida's Department of Children and Families fully supports SalusCare's plan to add beds, writing that the "increase from 12 to 16 beds will provide additional capacity in the acute care system to meet increasing demand for crisis stabilization beds."
