The Wallis and the Los Angeles LGBT Center Present United FORlando, An Evening Tribute Concert

Evening Proceeds and Donations to Benefit the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - July 11, 2016 - PRLog -- The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts and the Los Angeles LGBT Center present United FORlando, an evening concert in memory and support of the victims of the recent tragedy at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. in the Bram Goldsmith Theater at The Wallis. The evening tribute includes special musical performances by the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles and the cast of Hit The Wall by Ike Holter, the award-winning immersive theater production set at NYC's historic Stonewall Inn during the summer of 1969. Actor and activist Wilson Cruz, whose aunt was among the victims on June 12, will moderate "After Orlando: Reflections and Where We Go From Here," a conversation featuring panelists Kate Kendell, Executive Director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, and Darrel Cummings, Chief of Staff of the Los Angeles LGBT Center. Single tickets are now available for purchase for $25 - $45 with net proceeds from the concert benefiting the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida (http://www.thecenterorlando.org/) (The Center). Any additional donations secured will also be donated in their entirety to The GLBT Community Center of Central Florida.

"The recent tragedy in Orlando has severely impacted our nation and our world. As an arts institution that is dedicated to serving as an essential resource to its surrounding community, The Wallis pays tribute to the Orlando victims and shows its support for everyone affected both in Orlando and right here in Los Angeles," said The Wallis' Artistic Director Paul Crewes and Managing Director Rachel Fine. "The Wallis is an advocate for inclusion and this evening aims to further a critical dialogue and demonstrate that there are no boundaries or walls within the arts."

Los Angeles LGBT Center CEO Lorri L. Jean said the LGBT community will feel the impact of the horrific attack on the Pulse nightclub for many years to come.

"We also know, however, the power and resilience that for many decades has been the hallmark of the LGBT struggle for civil rights in the face of vicious discrimination and violence," said Jean. "Organizations like the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida have been at the heart of this struggle and we are proud to support them in this challenging time. This benefit on their behalf pays homage to the fact that we simply will not be silenced. We will raise our voices in song and dialogue and begin a process of healing that speaks to the fierce and joyous power of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people everywhere."
