Engage Yourself With The Malodic Sound Of Musical Instrument Sitar

Any rants about sitar, and the first thing to cross the minds is that round bottomed massive , multi- stringed instrument that produces shrill but sweet noise, soothing enough to plunge deep into our heart.

ILFORD, U.K. - July 11, 2016 - PRLog -- Definitely, once a sitar listener is an all time fan of sitar. Its music leaves such lingering sensations in your body that you cannot shrug it off even after trying hard to reimburse yourself in any other kind of instrumental music.  In case you have never heard of this instrument before, then take a hint- remember that funny playing sound in the background of the song "Holiday Inn"? Yeah, that quirky sounding guitar was the one we are talking about right now, an instrument called sitar.   This beautiful sounding and seemingly far- flung instrument consists of around seven main strings and 11 supplementary strings, also known as sympathetic strings to give more depth to the sound being produced by the main strings.

The wave of Sitar Music

Sitar was not verypopular or much known by the common folks in Europe and America up until 1960s. It was the association between Ravi Shankar, a legendary Sitar master of Indian origin and George Harrison, who had together changed the way sitar was perceived by the world. It is rumoured that while George Harrison was on a filming break, he accidently picked up a sitar and since then his curiosity towards sitar started growing. He started getting lessons in sitar from Ravi Shankar and the Beatles soon released the first ever western song including sitar named Norwegian Wood. This was around 1965 and George had personally played sitar in this song.

Shortly after this, The Beatles went on to flaunt their influence on Indian classical instrument sitar and even tried playing around with fusion music including western instruments and other Indian classical instruments like Tamboura and Tabla. This psychedelic effect was followed by many contemporary artists and everyone hopped on this bandwagon including the musicians such as Lemon pipers and Rolling Stones.  Result of this wave of trend was in form of songs like Green Tambourine, paint it black, Holiday Inn etc. Sitar and Whiff of Modern Air have been a great combo in todays world as myraid of people like it.

Things to consider before buying a Sitar

There are many things to consider before you buy a sitar and especially if you buy sitar online, then you must ensure that you replay few tips in your mind before deciding on one to buy.  First off, you need to make sure that the piece you are buying is not fake. Most of the sitars sitting in the stores or even online are imported from North India and are fake.  Next, you need to make sure in what condition the sitar had been lying around and that it wasn't exposed to too much moisture or heat.

Lastly, after delivery, check for the loose parts in the sitar. The tuners should be in perfect condition and the strings should necessarily be sitar grade. But then, if you are searching for a good and reliable sitar shop then the best option would be to buy sitar online from GuruSoundz.
