Acquiring a fleet of combat UAVs is a procurement priority for Poland

PRAGUE - July 5, 2016 - PRLog -- Eastern European militaries are increasingly deploying UAVs, with governments planning acquisitions and local defense companies developing systems to bid against Western manufacturers. Poland's ongoing 139 billion zloty (US$37 billion) military modernisation program for 2013 to 2022 includes the purchase of a wide range of combat and reconnaissance drones, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2016, according to the Defence Ministry's strategic document. In July 2015, Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Tomasz Siemoniak said that acquiring a fleet of combat UAVs is a procurement priority.

SMi's UAV Technology Eastern Europe conference, taking place on 21-22 September 2016 in Prague, Czech Republic, will explore the tactics and technologies for advancing capability in this important area. Drawing on the experience and ongoing work of regional military experts and those from across NATO, the forum will deliberate operational lessons learnt, from challenging environments such as counter-insurgency operations in the Middle East to ongoing security efforts across Europe. In addition to strategy for UAV use, military programme managers from procurement shall discuss the requirements and updates for key programmes.
