Kindly supported by the University of Glasgow, HESCA16 is the latest in a series of similar successful events that Smartex has run over the past 6 years in UK cities.

This intensive two-day conference will feature 9 case-studies from leading practitioners at Universities across the UK to include University of Kent, Brighton, Aberdeen, Glasgow and more.

Key themes to be addressed and debated include:

·         The migration from smart cards to smartphones

·         The need for biometrics to support identity management

·         Upgrading from Mifare Classic to DESfire-chipped cards

·         Supporting new functions such as attendance monitoring, examinee validation and student voting

·         The quest for the unobtainable?  A cashless campus.

Richard Poynder, Smartex Chairman, commented: "This is now our 15th year of operating HESCA, and I am naturally delighted that it has grown to become the UK's premier association for smart campus schemes. HESCA16 is set to be the best so far and I would like personally to thank our sponsors and exhibitors for their continuing support of the event, which has enabled us to invite non-member HEIs & FEIs free of charge".

About HESCA
A growing number of leading universities are members of HESCA.  Its main objectives are to bring these together with leading suppliers and consultants for quarterly full-day meetings in London, in order to learn of new products, services and methodologies - supported by frequent case studies - covering the many functions on and off campus that can usefully be supported by single, multi-functional smart cards.

Recent HESCA meetings have attracted record attendances, and have shared the latest developments and use-cases for attendance recording and monitoring, cashless campuses (using both closed-loop e-payment products and contactless-enabled EMV cards) and physical/system access control.
