Modern Vices releases new single "Sacrifice"

CHICAGO - June 11, 2016 - PRLog -- About modern vices.

Chicago-based indie garage pop quintet modern vices formed in 2013. Their noisy guitar-led attack has elements of surf, garage, lo-fi indie, and what the band refers to as dirty doo wop. The band consists of frontman alex rebek, guitarists peter scoville and thomas peters, bassist miles kalchik, and drummer patrick hennessey. In 2014 they signed with chicago indie autumn tone records, which released their self-titled debut lp in october of that year.

Noir in tone and dripping with wild romanticism, there's an aching passion and sincerity in the crooning that is juxtaposed by the fuzzy grit of guitars and a bright, pulsing beat. Their self described dirty doo-wop sound is an abstraction of 50's inspired pop and post punk - but it transcends those styles with a more complex structure and solid melodies that stick in your head. The sound is at once fierce and unpredictable yet there's a tenderness that makes it all the more compelling.
