The Aurora Complex Offers New Housing Opportunities and New Starts

By: Central States Development, LLC

AURORA, Colo. - May 24, 2016 - PRLog -- John Foley of Central States Development, LLC, of Omaha, Nebraska is working with the Debbie Winans the Director and Founder of the Inside-Out organization to create new permanent housing opportunities for recently paroled ex-offenders. Ex-offenders often times are denied decent housing because of their past, which might include criminal records, bad credit, several years lack of employment and/or landlord references. Most times they have used up all family resources and end up homeless and a large percentage have addiction issues and will repeat their offenses.  With this project, ex-offenders will not only transition into a new home, but a new neighborhood as well, with the designed purpose to reduce the risk of recidivism and the need to develop additional prisons at the expense of the tax payers.

The Apartments

In Omaha, John Foley oversaw and developed a similar project that successfully provided transitional and permanent housing for homeless veterans. The Omaha apartments offered wraparound supportive services to increase the success of the individual.

The Aurora apartments will be located in Colorado and open to those leaving the Colorado penal system that have indicated a desire to pursue this alternative housing option and a new path. Those chosen to participate will be located in a new neighborhood, one far from the communities where they were involved in a crime that lead to their incarnation.

The complex will be located near 15600 E Alameda Parkway, Aurora, CO. The buildings will be 2 story and approximately 38,000 square feet. Residents will enjoy a 12,000 square foot common area and 26,000 square feet of living space. The complex includes:

·      44 one bedroom units

·      6 two bedroom unites

·      Gas stove, heat, and water heater

·      HVAC system in each apartment

·      Each unit includes a refrigerator, stove, and microwave

·      Amenities, which include balconies, patios, community rooms, community gardens, van shuttle service, and sitting areas

·      Office for staff and meetings with parole officers

·      Security includes interior an exterior cameras

·      Van shuttle service

Living in Auroroa

Once accepted, the participants seeking to pursue a new path in life will be required to agree to follow strict housing guidelines, which include maintaining a smoke, drug, and alcohol free environment, as well as following the rules of their parole. To further aid with transition, the apartment will look and function just like a typical apartment complex.

With Central States Development's track record in Omaha and Inside-Out's record of successfully operating single family homes in the area, we believe this will be an amazing opportunity to help prisoners transition and change the trajectory of their lives.
