| ![]() Let's Start Coding Announces Maker Screen, a Hands-on Way for Teens to Learn Computer CodingMaker Screen joins the Let's Start Coding family of kits that help beginners learn computer code by building real things. It enables users to learn programming in the classroom or at home while engaging with fun projects and step-by-step guides.
By: Let's Start Coding The goal of the product is to engage learners with easy-to-use gadgets that they can experiment with through computer programming. By providing step-by-step guides and working examples, Let's Start Coding believes that students will spend less time frustrated and more time engaged with coding. As they build their confidence and skills, they can take on more challenging projects and create brand new programs. Weston Hagan, an employee of Let's Start Coding, explained why the company spent months developing and refining the Maker Screen. "Screens are an exciting gadget to display sensor readings or graphics in a compact format. Unfortunately, they've always been a headache to use. That's why we invented Maker Screen. Rather than require tedious and fragile wiring, our customers can slide components into the ports on the back of Maker Screen and power the screen with AA batteries. We hope this product enables more curious makers and programmers to develop their skills." Maker Screen is compatible with Maker Board and the Arduino software, so it offers a simple alternative for veteran makers and programmers already familiar with the popular Arduino platform. The company also hopes to reach a new audience: the students who will enter the workforce within the next decade. "We want to make products that encourage people to give coding a try. Students across the country and world can be exposed to computer science in a simple and rewarding way with our hands-on approach. We hope to see more adoption of coding in the classroom, where a strong start with programming can make a big impact on individuals and our economy", said Hagan.
