WASHINGTON - April 28, 2016 - PRLog -- The SEED School of Washington, DC's Celebration Gala Will Promote Arts Education

The SEED School of Washington, D.C. (SEED DC)'s Falcon Theatre will perform their award-winning production of The Lion King, Jr. for one night only on May 10, 2016 at THEARC (1901 Mississippi Avenue) in Southeast DC. This Celebration of the Arts will begin at 5:30pm for a VIP reception featuring Top Chef Jan Van Haute of Haute Saison Catering, pop-up performances from the SEED School Girls Rock DC band, and a silent auction, all of which are included in the VIP admission.  Doors open for general admission to the Lion King, Jr. at 7:00pm. The event will celebrate our students' talents, raise awareness of funding needs, and support arts programming at SEED DC. SEED DC will also announce a new partnership with THEARC and the iCan Technical Theater program. The Lion King, Jr. will feature the nationally recognized SEED Falcon Theatre students. The cast and crew recently traveled to Atlanta, Georgia for the 2016 Junior Theater Festival, where they were recognized in several categories, including Excellence in Ensemble Work. The SEED Falcon Theatre was also recently commended by the American High School Theater Festival as one of the nation's top drama programs and has been invited to represent the United States at the 2017 Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland.

"Arts programming and arts opportunities are on the rise at SEED and an event like this gala will bring awareness to the great work that our students and staff are doing in and through the arts," said Dr. LaMar Bagley, Program Coordinator for the Arts at SEED DC. To that end, the Celebration of the Arts Fundraiser will bring together board members from SEED DC and The SEED Foundation, philanthropists, elected officials, arts professionals, arts educators, and supporters of the arts and arts education. VIP tickets cost $50 and include access to the reception as well as the show; general admission tickets cost $30. All proceeds from the evening will benefit the upcoming performing arts season at SEED DC. SEED DC is a college-preparatory, public boarding school where over 90% of graduates enroll in colleges and universities across the country.

There are several ways to support the gala via ticket purchase, donations for the silent auction, and sponsorship opportunities.
