TUCKER, Ga. - April 22, 2016 - PRLog -- HomeAid Atlanta's 15th Annual Essentials Drive officially kicks off on Monday, April 25 and runs through May 3, 2016 in honor of Mother's Day.  The drive is a community-wide effort to help homeless babies and their mothers by collecting "essential" baby products such as diapers, pull-ups, baby food, formula, baby wipes, and baby hygiene products.  Everything collected through the drive will be distributed by HomeAid just before Mother's Day, in partnership with UPS, to local nonprofit organizations serving homeless families and young children in the metro Atlanta area. Of the estimated 9,000 people in Metro Atlanta who are homeless on any given night, 40 percent are women and children.

All donated items will go directly to organizations that provide housing and supportive services to homeless infants, toddlers, and families.  Many of these organizations operate facilities that have been built or renovated in partnership with HomeAid Atlanta and include Action Ministries (Atlanta), Atlanta Mission (Atlanta), Ceek to Fulfill (Conyers), City of Refuge (Atlanta), Community Advanced Practice Nurses (Atlanta), Decatur Cooperative Ministry (Decatur), Our House (Atlanta), Haven Atlanta (Atlanta), Helping Mamas (Snellville), HomeStretch (Roswell), Intown Collaborative Ministries (Atlanta), Nicholas House (Atlanta), Phoenix Pass (Conyers), Sheltering Arms (Atlanta), Solomon's Temple (Atlanta), The Drake House (Roswell), and the United Methodist Children's Home (Decatur).

To donate to the Essentials Drive, visit www.homeaidatlanta.org for a map of 30 Atlanta area drop off locations. On Sunday, April 24, donations can be brought to the Woodruff Arts Center as part of their Family Fun initiative (find out more at www.woodruffcenter.org). Donations can also be made online at HomeAid's Target and Amazon baby registries.  To access the registry, type "HomeAid" for the registrant's first name, and "Atlanta" for the last name. Shipping charges may apply.  Financial contributions are accepted via HomeAid's website, which will be used to purchase baby items.

All donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law. To learn more about the 2016 Essentials Drive, visit www.homeaidatlanta.org or contact HomeAid Atlanta at 678-775-1401 or info@homeaidatlanta.org.

The Essentials Drive was first launched by HomeAid Atlanta in 2002, and since then more than 740,000 essential baby items have been collected and distributed.
