LONDON - April 5, 2016 - PRLog -- The Polish gas TSO - Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. and the Danish gas TSO - Energinet.dk are investigating the possibility of establishing a connection between the Polish and the Danish gas transmission systems - the so called Baltic Pipe project. In 2015, both TSOs have been granted EU aid under the Connecting Europe Facility Programme (CEF) to perform a study "Feasibility Study regarding the PCI Poland - Denmark interconnection Baltic Pipe". The Baltic Pipe project is indicated on the European Commission list of the PCI projects (Projects of Common Interest), adopted on Nov 18 2015. The main objectives of the PCI project Baltic Pipe are to further strengthen supply diversification, market integration, price convergence and security of supply in primarily Poland and in Denmark and secondly in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and Baltic region.

Against this backdrop, SMi is proud to announce that both GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. and Energinet.dk will be sharing case studies at the 10th annual conference on Gas Storage and Transmissions, taking place on 15th - 16th June 2016 in London, UK:

Hans Aage-Nielsen, Gas Market Development at Energinet.dk, will be leading a presentation on Day One at 09:50 titled 'Security of supply in a declining gas market'. His session will cover the following key points:
• Assessing the current gas storage market
• European market coupling for flexibility
• How will the European gas market be affected by COP 21?

Piotr Kus, Director at Gaz-System S.A., will be delivering an opening address on Day Two at 09:10 titled 'Natural gas market and infrastructure in Central and Eastern Europe'. His presentation will cover the following areas:
• The role of infrastructure in safeguarding Europe's energy security
• Marguerite 2020's role in financing gas pipelines and interconnectors
• Overcoming the main challenges in securing financing for infrastructure projects
• Should we be investing in new infrastructure or enhancing current capabilities?

The 10th annual Gas Storage and Transmissions conference will provide the ideal platform to discuss the role storage and transmissions can play in safeguarding the EU's security of energy supply, in addition to the role regulators have to play in rejuvenating this dynamic market. Case studies will be provided on current and future infrastructural developments across Europe, including the Turkish, Nord and South Streams and the forthcoming Nord Stream 2 project. The two-day event will assess whether diversifying gas supply routes and new interconnector projects can meet the growing need for natural gas imports in Europe as production in the North Sea continues to fall.

Speaker Panel includes:
• Christophe Poillion, VP and Director of European Strategy, GRTgaz and Chairman of the Task Force on Security of Supply, Gas Infrastructure Europe
• Ralph Bahke, Managing Director, ONTRAS Gastransport GmbH
• Paul Corcoran, Chief Financial Officer, Nord Stream 2 AG
• Christoph von dem Bussche, Managing Director, Gascade
