FAIRFIELD, Calif. - March 31, 2016 - PRLog -- Learn how to write an engaging, intriguing beginning for your book at the next Writers Resource Center (WRC) workshop.  The seminar is part of the group's year-long "Developing Authors Series" and will be taught by authors Vicki Ward and Wanda Campbell along with WRC's President Janie P. Bess.  The meeting will NOT be held on the usual second Saturday of the month.  It will instead be held on Saturday, April 16th, from 10 am to 12 noon at 1745 Enterprise Drive, Fairfield, room 113.  Seating is limited; please RSVP by emailing janiepbess@yahoo.com.  Admission is free for members; non-members pay a small fee.  Membership applications will be available at the meeting and complementary refreshments will be served.

The session will also cover how to develop plot twists and include a complementary resources handbook, "150+ Fabulous Free Author Resources" for all attendees.  Participants should bring their own writing supplies and/or electronic devices to the meeting.

WRC Officers Granted Scholarships to the 28th Annual

Independent Book Publishing Association's Publishing University

WRC's April meeting is pushed to the third Saturday this month because two of its officers, President Bess and Vice President Ward, have been granted scholarships by the Independent Book Publishing Association (IBPA) to the organization's 28th Annual Publishing University.  They will be attending the conference in Salt Lake City on WRC's usual meeting date.  The IBPA event provides resources, workshops, keynote speakers, vendor booths and other activities meant to inspire and support the efforts of independent writers and publishers.  The scholarships are valued at $375 each; and it is the first time the association has ever awarded scholarships to two people from the same group.

"We didn't coordinate our applications; we both applied separately and both got accepted," says Bess. "And, of course, we're very excited and honored to have been chosen for this opportunity."
