SALT LAKE CITY - March 15, 2016 - PRLog -- NetDocuments, the leading native cloud/SaaS-based document and email management service for law firms and corporate legal departments, has released its 16.1 update with features and functionality focused on security,  and improved usability and email management with ndGmail, a Gmail plug-in for seamlessly saving and filing email from Gmail to NetDocuments.

16.1 is the first of four upgrade releases scheduled for 2016. The incremental updates throughout the year are at the core of an always-improving software delivery model that leverages a single global instance of the application, one service worldwide, across NetDocuments' global customer base.

With the ndGmail plug-in, an extension now offered for Google Chrome, NetDocuments users can now file emails from Gmail into NetDocuments. This gives users access to NetDocuments' matter workspaces and folders within the Gmail interface and the ability to easily save and profile email directly into the NetDocuments repository. As a result, all filed Gmail content is now available in the matter and across NetDocuments enterprise search engine.

Ken Kroeger, CIO at Kutak Rock commented, "A key differentiator of a true SaaS-based, cloud platform vs an on-premises or hosted on-premises system is the process of continuous improvement through frequent product releases. In our previous on-premises environment, updates were difficult to administer and usually broke more things than they fixed, creating an atmosphere of instability whenever an 'update' was announced. The stability and transparency of NetDocuments updates has been a cornerstone of their commitment to consistent and secure, 'always on, always available service' for our user base."

Joshua Stein of Joshua Stein PLLC, a leading transactional real estate firm in NY, recently commented: "NetDocuments is the backbone of our practice - the repository for the entire firm's work product - and therefore has to be secure, available, and always improving. The technology NetDocuments provides, allows me to run and grow my practice in an efficient way, and eliminates the need for me to focus on security, mobility, or disaster recovery solutions for my technology."

Beyond the ndGmail plug-in, other notable features and enhancements in the 16.1 release include:

·         ndOneClick™ gives users a one-click method to automatically check out documents without the ActiveX add-on while in Internet Explorer. This particularly improves the user experience for Mac users who no longer need to download and re-upload to edit documents as well as customers using Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. It is also available on Edge for Windows 10.

·         Enhanced administrative reporting: Secure delivery views and downloads are now added to the Consolidated Activity Log when individuals outside of the firm interact with documents sent via the secure document delivery feature. This reporting functionality tracks and logs the IP address linked to the email where the document delivery link was sent.

·         HTML view of email attachments:  Enables users to view email attachments directly in the NetDocuments interface, eliminating the need to download.

·         ndOffice Extensibility API - "NetDocuments OneDesk" - Allows for third party vendors to share the same common UI of ndOffice within their integrated applications.

"The 16.1 release highlights NetDocuments' position of truly partnering with our customers to steer the improvements in a direction that increases a firm's ability to not only increase productivity and efficiency, but also increase security, compliance, and information governance initiatives - something only possible with a native, one-to-many, cloud-based infrastructure," stated Leonard Johnson, NetDocuments' vice president of product management. "Continually improving the software through community-driven feedback via our NetDocuments IdeaBank has enabled us to deliver updates that truly deliver what customers want," concluded Johnson.
