Follow on Google News | Pour a Pint with Spring Carlisle, Carlisle Auctions and Market Cross PubLocal Restaurant/Brewery to Host a Special Keg Tapping of Hammer Down Hopped-Up Lager
By: Carlisle Events Continuing the automotive theme of beers, Market Cross Pub will introduce a beer special to the weekend, with a keg tapping on April 21 at 6 p.m. The beer, known as Hammer Down Hopped-Up Lager, is the fifth different brew in the Market Cross brew series bearing a Carlisle car show tie-in. A tradition started in 2011 when Carlisle Blue Brew was made available during Corvettes at Carlisle, this special tapping will actually be available first to attendees of the Spring Carlisle auction at the Carlisle Expo Center. The "preview" takes place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., but the main event; the tapping of the keg for pub patrons will happen at 6 p.m. What is Hammer Down Hopped-Up Lager? It's a beer, but more so, according to brew master Kevin Spicer, "it's a beer that can be best described as an amber lager, using German pilsner, Munich and Vienna malts, along with a healthy dose of German hops for a clean, well-balanced brew of moderate strength (6% ABV)." Carlisle Events also has a great partnership with Market Cross Pub. The pub and its staff will be the go-to partners for beer vending onsite at the Carlisle Fairgrounds and during a 2016 meeting on that plan, the idea for an auction centric beer was hatched. "When we were deciding on which brew to make this year during a meeting with Carlisle Events in January, we decided to brew in honor of one of our favorite events, the auctions backed by Carlisle Auctions," said Ashleigh Corby, Vice President of Market Cross Pub. "We have been sampling our Market Cross Brews at the Spring and Fall auction for a few years now and have really had fun while meeting some great people! What better brew than a Hammer Down Hopped-Up Lager!" In addition, with this being an auction themed beer, anyone showing a bidder's pass at the pub on keg tapping night, or throughout the Spring Carlisle weekend will receive a 10% discount on their purchase.
