Brownfield Listings adds Chris Olson as Senior Advisor of Corporate Landholdings

Chris brings more than 30 years of experience in the petroleum and  environmental industry having served in a wide spectrum of business and environmental management roles, including remediation project management on complex  chemical and Superfund sites, as well as leading repositioning strategies for reuse challenged real estate.

From 2004-2009, Chris served as Manager of Real Estate Reuse for BP, where he developed and implemented effective divestment and environmental risk transfer strategies for BP's non-performing land assets across the firm's diverse business lines. He was directly responsible for managing BP's global portfolio of more than 50,000 acres of surplus land assets and effectively repositioning more than 3,000 acres of property back into the marketplace, while at the same time transferring any remaining environmental risks as part of the transaction and generating more than $70M in cash revenues to the company.

From 2009-2011 Chris was Sr. Consultant for Cardno ENTRIX , a natural resource liability management and restoration firm where he was responsible for advising large landowners and corporations on divestment solutions for environmentally challenged real estate portfolios, including the potential to extract natural resource value from those landholdings.  During this time, Chris also actively supported BP with incident response and public relations efforts during the 2010 BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

From 2011-2015 Chris was retained by BP to provide environmental and incident response data management and litigation support for alleged environmental liabilities and personal injury claims.

Chris brings strategic and tactical expertise that is invaluable to large landholding clients seeking to maximize value through combined real estate, business and natural resource eco-asset value. His extensive knowledge regarding impaired property transaction deal structuring, risk transfer mechanisms, and assessing properties for natural resource value streams and renewable energy opportunities is recognized throughout the industry. Chris serves on several advisory boards, including Bloomberg BNA's Environmental Due Diligence Guide, and RTM Communications, and is a frequent speaker at brownfield transaction conferences.
