Imagine getting fired for doing drugs by the person you were doing drugs with?

Today in Rock Music History; Howie Epstein, former Heartbreaker and Bass Player for Tom Petty, dies in New Mexico.

TORONTO - Feb. 23, 2016 - PRLog -- It’s been 13 years since Epstein died and Susan Daley, author of ‘Conversations With My Dead Rock Star Best Friend’ has been waiting that long to release her book.

“July 21, 1955 – February 23, 2003: There’s a whole life between those dates, a whole life reduced to a mere dash. I’ve been sitting on this book for almost as long as Howie’s been dead. Were there an actual narrative into which I could inject some insight, I would have, so I’ll start it – even if it means it’s just me talking into a vacuum, it’s time.”

“I kept waiting for people to clear their names, or acknowledge their roles, but nobody came forth.” she continued; “but this isn’t about assigning blame, because there is no one to blame, it’s about saying nothing when there’s so much that needs to be said”

Daley was very close to Epstein pre, during, and post Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, she knows where a lot of the proverbial bodies are buried, but insists this isn’t intended to be a scandalous tell-all book, just a conversation between two dear friends.  According to Daley, there are a lot of things people don’t know, but think they do, for example; contrary to every published report, Carlene Carter was NOT driving that fateful day when the pair were arrested in New Mexico and charged with possession of drugs and a stolen vehicle.

Though the book claims to provide a ‘glimpse into Howie’s point of view while the events of his life unfolded,’ it’s written from the writer’s perspective.  It’s told through memories of conversations and events as well as some interesting post death conversations; where she attempts to process her grief through talking to the spirit of Epstein. It’s raw, emotional, yet very funny at times.

Conversations With My Dead Rock Star Best Friend is available in digital and paperback format at all your favorite retailers.  For more information, you can check out her website at www.DeadRockStarBestFriend.com where you’ll also see a mini video photo album Daley refers to as a book companion.
