Washington Dc Tv Station Focuses A Week Of Reports On “faith In Our Town”
Viewers will see how religion helps shape political campaigns, how and why gay marriage is an explosive and divisive issue in many faiths and how the lack of female leadership remains an uncomfortable topic among many male religious leaders. In addition to the in-depth reporting WUSA9 is employing social media to poll residents of the entire metropolitan area to get their opinion about all things faith related, from women in the clergy to Syrian Muslim refugees to organized religion and even belief in angels.
The WUSA9 “Faith in Our Town” reporting team will be led by award-winning reporter and news anchor Bruce Johnson who personally examines the current rift between some Christians and Muslims surrounding the issues of terrorism and immigration. Johnson will also take us inside a spirited African-American Mega Church and will examine the role of urban churches that go far beyond the spiritual.
During the “Faith in Our Town” reports the viewers will also learn that to some organized religious institutions are shrinking as many Millennials find alternative spiritual outlets. WUSA9 also reports on the difficult ways that traditional family worship is impacted by interfaith marriages.
The WUSA9 “Faith in Our Town” stories will appear on evening newscasts on Channel 9 beginning February 15 in the 5pm, 6pm, 7pm and 11pm.
