Two People that Lost Over $250,000 on FanDuel and DraftKings Retain Legal Counsel

NEW YORK - Dec. 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Two people that lost over a quarter of a million dollars betting with FanDuel and DraftKings have retained legal counsel to recover their losses. Both players lost a majority of the $250,000 in the past year.

“FanDuel and DraftKings continue to claim their betting schemes are legal, despite the evidence that established the contests are illegal sports betting pools which violate both state and federal laws,” said Vincent Imbesi, an attorney with one of the firms retained by the customers.

“Whenever you see a person holding a check issued for winning a contest, we must not forget that individual people lost that same amount, in addition to the house rake,” Mr. Imbesi added. “If a person wins $1 Million, individuals lost $1 Million plus the house rake which would be about $70,000,” Mr. Imbesi said. He added, “For every $1 Million won – people must lose $1 Million plus $70,000,”

“The two people that lost over $250,000 had no idea that the employees of DraftKings and FanDuel were utilizing information about how other players were betting, nor did they know FanDuel intentionally instructed its employees on how to conceal their actions to avoid being detected,” Mr. Imbesi said.

ILLEGAL SPORTS BETTING

FanDuel is operating an illegal sports betting business within the state of New York, that not only violates New York’s law, but also several federal laws that prohibit illegal sports betting, according to Mr. Imbesi. “Money lost on FanDuel and DraftKings can be recovered because neither the companies nor the credit card issuers can collect a debt for illegal gambling,” Mr. Imbesi concluded.

The two players retained the law firms Napoli Shkolnik PLLC and Imbesi Law P.C.
