The Submaster is a British designed quartz date military divers watch. Stealth matt pvd (physical vapour deposition) coating complete with high quality 20mm NATO strap. The black dial is enhanced with Submaster in white and retro military Gladiator Hands. Fully waterproof (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_SPM9112234017) to 300m/ 1000ft pressure tested. The matte finish on the case gives the watch anti-reflective qualities when on daylight missions. Case, Bezel and Crystal:

The finishing of the case is well done and the coating appears evenly applied as well as consistent throughout the surface of the case. The bezel has "coin-edge" grips, which allows the 60 click bezel to rotate easily. The aluminum bezel insert is painted black and contains a diver's scale with silver markings. The crown has a nice, smooth feel and screws down with two turns.

Dial and Hands:

The black dial of the Submaster is nicely designed and very legible. The dial has a very similar design to the Omega Seamaster Professional dive watch line and has a classic diver appearance. The watch hands are a sword style and are painted white. The date window is located at the three o'clock position on the dial. It is outlined by a white box, which nicely frames the white date wheel with black numbers. This adds a bit of refinement to the design, which is often overlooked by watches that cost well in excess of the Submaster's MSRP.

The Cooper Logo, minute markers, model name and water resistant rating are all painted white, which provides a nice contrast to the watch's matte black dial. The hour markers have a light green tone from the tinted lume utilized.

The hands, dial and bezel pip are coated with green-tinted luminous paint. The lume is very bright when fully charged, when it is fully charged it glows like a torch.

Strap:

The watch comes equipped with a black nylon "NATO" strap, with brushed stainless steel keepers and buckle. The strap is soft and comfortable on the wrist and gives the watch a mil-sub or tactical appearance.

Movement:

The Cooper Submaster utilizes a CitizenMiyota 2115 quartz watch movement. The date window is located at the 3 o'clock position and the date wheel is white with black numbers.

The watch measures 42mm in diameter and 47mm in length (lug to lug). Due to its moderate proportions, the watch wears very comfortably on the wrist and will fit nicely on a wide variety of wrist sizes.  It has nice proportions and has a nice tactical look/feel.

The Cooper "Submaster design is based primarily on a "mil-sub" design of the 70s Although the Cooper is based on the traditional Rolex "Mil-Sub" Submariner style, I feel that it is "different enough" through its dimensions, finishing and components to be homage to the original design and be able to stand apart as its own.

The Submaster has some special design details that make it truly unique as a vintage dive watch. The two most noticeable differences are in the hands and bezel insert. The Submaster lacks a traditional Mercedes hour hand and instead has a broad and stubby sword hand, and the bezel insert has individual minute markers going all around the bezel, rather than just from 0-15. The other more subtle details are a full shoulder lug bars for use with nylon straps. Solid stainless steel case with automatic movement, black dial, screwdown case back, screwdown crown, 20mm lugs. The Submaster takes the classic Bond-approved styling of the Submariner and tacks on some sportier and more aggressive features designed to maximize visibility for military usage.
