This marks Long’s third appointment to the Council; he was first appointed in 1996 by then Governor Steve Merrill and in 2001 by then Governor Jeanne Shaheen. Long’s responsibilities on the Council will include review of certifications for Natural Resources Scientists, as well as other issues associated with this practice in New Hampshire. Long has been with GZA for six years. His career as a senior environmental consultant specializing in natural resources spans more than 29 years. A Certified Soil Scientist, Certified Wetland Scientist and a Licensed Forester, he specializes in disturbed soils. Other areas of specialization include wetland delineation and classification, natural resources identification and protected species surveys. Long graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Management; his post-graduate studies were conducted at the University of New Hampshire and the University of Massachusetts. He is a member of the New Hampshire Association of Natural Resource, Society of Soil Scientists of Northern New England, and the Society of American Foresters and is Chair of the Scientists/Soils Professional Discipline.
