Serving Seniors® SCREENED PROVIDER Helps Protect Older Adults From Financial Exploitation

Professionals Serving Seniors Take a Stand to Create Transparency and Consumer Trust

SARASOTA, Fla. - Oct. 27, 2015 - PRLog -- The Serving Seniors® SCREENED PROVIDER program was created to help consumers differentiate between professionals and service providers who have been screened and background checked for their safety and confidence, and those that may not be as eagerly transparent. Seniors and family caregivers must often rely on print ads or online directories when hiring providers for themselves or a loved one, with little or no real knowledge of the quality or integrity of those providers. This makes the decision making process difficult, stressful and time consuming for seniors and their family members. Serving Seniors SCREENED PROVIDER takes the guesswork out of choosing trustworthy providers.

SCREENED PROVIDER Members offer consumers an added level of transparency by voluntarily participating in an extensive 2-Step Screening Process. Each applicant must "earn" this badge. They cannot simply buy preferred status as with some review sites and consumer bureaus that tend to offer the best ratings money can buy. Fact is every sales person and business owner that serves seniors all have a vested interest in making a sale, unfortunately the unscrupulous ones are not motivated to be honest or transparent. A recent report by True Link Financial states that senior financial abuse and exploitation is costing Americans nearly $37 Billion a year, over 12 times previous estimates! Some are now referring to this as "the crime of the 21st century".

"The issue of vetting has been discussed for sometime within the Senior Services industry. We are uniquely positioned to back this campaign, as we will leverage our network of over 80 senior resource sites to help educate consumers and promote the necessity of choosing a Serving Seniors SCREENED PROVIDER. Our Members are individuals from many different industries making a statement and taking a stand to help protect older Americans from elder abuse and financial exploitation." said Steven Bailey, President of Serving Seniors.

The Serving Seniors SCREENED PROVIDER program was launched with the support of the ElderCare Resources® USA Network and notable industry experts who understand the importance of establishing a recognizable and effective vetting standard specific to the senior services industry. Since the SCREENED PROVIDER program compliments rather than competes with other memberships, certifications and training programs, Serving Seniors supports the mission of many professional organizations and leading franchise networks whose members are committed to serving seniors with dignity and integrity.

Serving Seniors accepts applications for Membership from any individual who is serving seniors that would like to join in taking a stand and earn the Serving Seniors SCREENED PROVIDER badge. This is a voluntary membership and an individual credential Members can proudly use in their own marketing efforts to differentiate themselves and validate their commitment to serving seniors and their families with honesty and transparency.

"Consumers that don’t use a SCREENED PROVIDER are putting themselves and their loved ones at risk. When hiring a new provider who hasn’t been properly vetted, consumers are basically inviting a stranger into their home or business, a stranger that now has access to your home, business and your loved ones." said Bailey
