Recovering from a WordPress Hack

BOSTON - Oct. 22, 2015 - PRLog -- I gave my first talk at a Boston WordPress Meetup on September 29th, 2015.  Here you can see some of the things that can be done to recover from a hack as well as how to protect yourself in the future.   Not only do you have access to the slides but my talk was also recorded so even if you were unable to attend you can still see the talk.

Go to http://wpcms.ninja/blog/2015/09/29/video-from-bostonwp-0928/ to see the video and slides.

Whether you want to know how to search your sites files to see if you have been hacked you will understand how to do this through a linux shell and even through the backend of WordPress.  Understanding what to look for is the biggest thing.

Knowing how to protect your website starts with you keeping your site up to date and secure.

Then understanding how to fix not only the core files of your WordPress install to making sure you are running the latest versions of the core and plugins are explained.  If you have been flagged by Google as a possibly hacked site can tarnish your sites reputation so how to recover from that using Google's Webmasters Tools is also a step to be taken.
