Despite Five Year Battle With Brain Cancer, Business Owners Celebrate With Ribbon Cutting

LEWISVILLE, Texas - Oct. 7, 2015 - PRLog -- Defensive Mindset,LLC,located at 401 North Valley Parkway, Suite 340 in Lewisville, will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, October 8 at 4:00PM. Defensive Mindset is owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Crystal and Luke Wedel.

Luke, diagnosed with terminal brain cancer January 20, 2010, was driven to utilize his decades of extensive martial arts, firearms, personal protection, and security experience to motivate, inspire, and educate others on the importance of proper mindset as it relates to overcoming adversity and challenges. “Being physically, emotionally, and spiritually prepared to handle adversity,whether it be a physical assault, verbal altercation, illness, or just life in general, really comes down to having the right mindset, knowledge, and skills to respond appropriately” said Luke. “Our goal at Defensive Mindset is to educate and inspire individuals to develop that mentality, and hone the skills necessary, to survive and overcome - no matter the challenge being faced.”

After Luke’s diagnosis, Crystal was motivated tobecome independent when it came to her own safety and security. “It was a wake-up call for me”, said Crystal. “I always took for granted that Luke’s extensive background would keep me safe. When I realized that he wasn’t always going to be around, it spurred my journey into self-defense, firearms, and combatives training. It motivated me to begin relying on myself for my own personal protection and eventually became my passion for teaching others to do the same.”

In addition to the ribbon cutting on Thursday, Defensive Mindset will host an open house on Friday and the official grand opening on Saturday from 10:00AM until 5:00PM featuring partners and events that include a Texas Law Shield Gun Law Workshop focusing on the new Open Carry legislation from 10:00AM to 12:00PM (Cost is $10.00 for Non-Members and $5.00 for TLS Members), and a vendor fair from 12:30PM to 5:00PM featuring their premier partners.
