Out of her struggles with depression, and a background of bullying, abuse, rape, and self-injury, Bleuel decided to take a stand. Perhaps unknowingly, she started a revolution. Project Semicolon has inspired countless others to don semicolon tattoos. People around the world are adopting Bleuel’s mantra that “the author is you and the sentence is your life”. According to Project Semicolon’s website, “A semicolon is used when an author could’ve chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to.” WhataPortrait.com is proud to show support for Bleuel and Project Semicolon.
