By: Author Jason Smith Each participant will take their turn reading 1,500 words of a true story. Other authors include, Ryan Leone, Patty Reinhart, Mindela Ruby, and Frances Stroh. Lip Service West is about gritty, real, and raw stories, and all of those words have been used to describe Jason Smith’s writing. Jason Smith’s book, released in July, has quickly made an impression on both the literary and recovery communities. His story is one of darkness, depravity, and utter despair and takes readers through the lowest, most frightening points of his sixteen year battle with a massive prescription drug addiction. Despite what the young writer has been through, the outcome is positive. He lives to share his experiences in order to enlighten and warn others about what happens when prescription opiates go from being a part of pain management to becoming an addict’s deadly necessity. The event begins at 7:30 pm on Friday August 21st, 2015 at 2349 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94704. Entry is free and refreshments will be served.
