Follow on Google News | Libraries to receive Crime Stoppers bookBy: Cal Millar The 304 page book, which details how Crime Stoppers operates around the world, is being sent to local Crime Stoppers programs with a request they be presented to area libraries. “The book was written to give readers a greater understanding of the crime solving program and how it works to combat crime and keep streets safe,” said author Cal Millar. “Having the book available in libraries will assure it’s available to more people and help increase awareness of what Crime Stoppers has achieved since the first program was created in Albuquerque in 1976.” Currently books are being made available to more than 100 libraries and communities receiving them so far are Denver, Pueblo, Des Moines, Fort Wayne, Albuquerque, Macon, Indianapolis, Myrtle Beach, Columbia, Missouri, Austin, Missoula, Olympia, Camarillo, Terre Haute and Mundelein, Illinois. Libraries in Canada which have the book include Burlington and London, Ontario with others going to Windsor, Niagara and Kitchener. The author, who has written four other true crime books all available through Amazon, said the Crime Stoppers book explains how each program operates independently and encourages people to call anonymously with any information they may have that will help solve all levels of crime. “Crime Stoppers was created by an Albuquerque detective trying to solve the slaying of a 19-year-old clerk during a gas station robbery and today has grown into an international crime-fighting network,” Millar said. In the 39 years Crime Stoppers has operated, tips to programs have led to the arrest of more than a million individuals; The book details how Crime Stoppers has also formed partnerships with various law enforcement and investigative agencies to combat a wide range of crime, including environmental concerns, human trafficking, terrorism, international money laundering and animal abuse, including a campaign in South Africa to combat poachers who are killing rhinos, the most endangered species in the world. -30- Contact: Cal Millar CrimeStoppersBooks@ www.calmillar.com Media Contact cal.millar@sympatico.ca End
