ICD-10 is Coming! Are you ready?

Are you delaying efforts to prepare for the ICD-10 transition because you sense another delay? Reports are coming out on a regular basis that speak to both sides of that issue. As your trusted clearinghouse, we suggest you continue to prepare for the transition regardless of speculations in the industry. Both the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) (http://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Coding/ICD10/index.html) and the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) (https://www.aapc.com/) continue to operate based on the October 1, 2015 deadline.

Many physicians are concerned with the cost of the transition and are preparing for the worst. Recent surveys published in the Journal of the American Health Information Management Association (http://journal.ahima.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Week-2_PAHCOM-Survey-Results.final_POST.pdf) state that many physicians’ offices are reporting lower expenditures than originally expected.

We encourage you to follow the updates coming out regularly on the transition. Follow the advice of the industry experts, many of which we have listed on our ICD-10 web page (http://www.claimremedi.com/icd-10_transition.php). Also, communicate with us as your clearinghouse, and also with your practice management and EMR vendors as you need.
