Cas Greenfield lived through the 'Summer of Love' as a teenager and those bright hopes brought to the fore in the light and shade of the late Sixties have remained in his heart to this day.

With a new album on the horizon and nearing completion, 'Immortals' quickly became the flagship track, with its message of Love and Peace and was released a few days ago as a downloadable single across the digital media platforms.

'Immortals is a celebration of the good things we had, the good things we have and the good things still to come...' says Greenfield, now in his mid-sixties but still in touch with music and more creative now than ever before.

During a long career in music, Greenfield played with some of the greats, including dear BB, Yes, Sparks and most recently, Lily's dad Keith Allen, who helped spark Cas's career through a collaboratative writing and performing session a couple of years ago.

'...suddenly the music came back again and I've had song after song come into my head...' remarked Cas.

Interestingly, Cas discovered a batch of two-inch analog master tapes from the mid 1970s with some forgotten recordings. After re-mastering the tracks at Peter Gabriel's Real World studios, Cas set about re-writing two of the archive songs and recoding and singing with his younger self.

This sets the recording session as one of the longest ongoing projects in pop music history.

But the focus is now on 'Immortals'. Written, as the lyrics state 'on the last cold day of winter...'.

Music may not change the world, but the sentiments behind a song like 'Immortals' may well serve to remind us of the good things this amazing planet of ours still has to offer.

Love and Peace are surely qualities that lie within us all. We can only hope.

Here are the words of Immortals:

Immortals – words and music Casimir Greenfield

·    If World War Three is on the way there’s nowhere we can hide

·    La la las and pillow dark won’t help to stem the tide

·    So we try cling to something that nothing bad can change

·    That we lived our little lifetimes through a bright and golden age

·    And love, love – love hear my beating heart

·    We are like marble

·    We are like granite

·    We are like air

·    Like the sphere of a planet

·    Like the arc of a rainbow rising up to the sky

·    We are immortal and immortals never die.

·    And in this last cold day of winter at the keening of the knives

·    I give thanks to love and nature for keeping us alive

·    I don’t know where we’re headed before my soul takes flight

·    So let’s smash the walls of darkness down and step into the light

·    And love, love – love hear our beating hearts

·    We are like diamonds

·    The core of the sun

·    Like the stars in the heavens

·    We are second to none

·    Like the arc of a rainbow rising up to the sky

·    We are immortal and immortals never die.

·    And love, love – love hear my beating heart
