GZA GeoEnvironmental Principal Kenneth Johnston named to Board of GeoProfessional Business Assoc

NORWOOD, Mass. - June 2, 2015 - PRLog -- Kenneth R. Johnston, a principal at GZA GeoEnvironmental (www.gza.com) and the firm’s Chief Administrative Officer, has been named to the Board of Directors of the GBA, or GeoProfessional Business Association.

In this capacity, he will help provide guidance and direction for the organization’s continued growth. The GeoProfessional Business Association (www.geoprofessional.org)  is a not-for-profit organization whose member firms provide geotechnical, geologic, environmental, construction-materials engineering and testing, and related geoprofessional services considered essential to the welfare of  society and the economy.

Johnston , prior to his current role with GZA as Chief Administrative Officer, served as GZA’s senior vice president, responsible for risk management, contracts, and real estate and, before that, Vice President of Operations.  An 18-year employee of the firm, he is the individual who oversaw the firm’s recent relocation from Edgewater Drive to its new location at 249 Vanderbilt Avenue, Norwood.

Johnston, a resident of Stoughton, MA, is a native of Quincy. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Norwich University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from New Hampshire College. Before joining GZA, he spent several years at Sanders Associates/Lockheed in New Hampshire, where he was a graduate of the firm’s prestigious financial-management training program. His background also includes owning and operating his own business; he was co-owner of a firm known as Allstate Polyethylene Corporation.

An avid bicyclist, he has completed the Pan Mass Challenge for 25 consecutive years, raising more than $170,000 for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and is gearing up for this year’s ride. He has ridden, he estimates, more than 70,000 miles on a bicycle during his lifetime and hopes to reach the 100,000 mile mark.

Additionally, he is a member of the Board of Fellows at the Business & Management School at Norwich University, currently serving as the Board’s Chairman. In this role, he plays a key role in helping students from Norwich gain experience in “shadowing” and visiting businesses as part of their career choices.

Of his work with the GBA, he said, “This is a great organization. There are 260 member firms and the GBA does a lot to further the cause of our respective industries. I am pleased and honored to be a part of this group.”
